Tenía mis dudas de ver este anime por el hecho de que no me gustan los que son del tipo de humanos transformándose en animales. Puedo tolerar que se transformen hasta cierto punto (como en Fruits Basket), así que temía cómo se desarrollaría el tema de las bendiciones aquí, pero para mi fortuna, conservan su forma humana, solo un personaje en particular terminó transformándose y no, no es la protagonista.

La trama es bastante común. La típica chica insegura obtiene un poder descomunal y todo aquel que la conoce se interesa en ella, pero a pesar de eso era bastante interesante. No es un harem inverso porque la protagonista, Sophia, solo muestra interés en el protagonista, Louis, y no estuvo dudando o jugando con otros chicos y eso se agradece bastante, porque ya me harté de los triángulos amorosos. La parte mala es que a veces los conflictos se resolvían de manera muy rápida o de forma poco creíble, como el tema del bullying a Sophia. Fueron muy blandos en ese aspecto.

Si hay algo que debo destacar de toda la historia, es el desarrollo del romance entre Sophia y Louis. Fue llevado de manera natural y este es un ejemplo de que en 12 episodios sí pueden desarrollar un buen romance. Me sorprendió bastante este hecho siendo un shoujo, pero siempre es refrescante ver a una pareja que se consolida casi a la mitad de la trama y no en los últimos minutos del último episodio.

Ahora bien, la parte que considero fue un poco frustrante al inicio fue el personaje de Sophia. Como protagonista dejaba mucho que desear por su actitud demasiado pasiva, queriendo pasar desapercibida y ocultar todo, especialmente en los primeros episodios, ya para el final mejoró un poco en esos temas y tengo esperanza de que mejore más si es que hay una nueva temporada, desconozco cómo va la historia en el manga.

En cuanto a la animación, es bastante básica, pero siendo sinceros, es raro es encontrar un shoujo con buena animación, así que realmente no esperaba mucho de ella.

Por último, si están esperando ver peleas todo el tiempo por el hecho de que Sophia sea parte de los caballeros, se van a decepcionar. El anime es más tranquilo, con las peleas justas y necesarias, pero si lo que buscan es ver un buen desarrollo de romance con momentos lindos entre los protagonistas, un toque de comedia y fantasía, esta historia podría ser una buena opción para pasar el rato.

No es una trama de otro mundo, ni tiene la mejor animación, pero sí destaca en tener una buena dosis de romance entre los protagonistas sin enredos innecesarios.

I didn’t know what to expect with such a peculiar title like The Gorilla God's Go-To Girl, but to my surprise, I found a light fantasy story with an unexpectedly well-executed romance.

I had my doubts about watching this anime because I’m not a fan of stories where humans transform into animals. I can tolerate it to a certain extent (like in Fruits Basket), so I was worried about how the concept of blessings would be handled here. Thankfully, most characters keep their human form. Only one character actually transforms, and no, it’s not the female lead.

The plot is fairly typical, an insecure girl suddenly gains immense power and everyone around her starts to take an interest in her. Despite that, it was surprisingly engaging. It’s not a reverse harem, which I appreciated a lot, the main character, Sophia, only shows interest in the male lead, Louis, and never wavers or plays around with others. That alone was refreshing, especially because I’m tired of unnecessary love triangles. On the downside, some conflicts were resolved way too quickly or in an unconvincing way, like the bullying toward Sophia, which was handled far too lightly.

If there’s one thing worth highlighting, it’s the development of the romance between Sophia and Louis. It felt natural and is a great example of how a romance can be well-developed in just 12 episodes. I was genuinely surprised, especially for a shoujo, and it was nice to see a couple come together halfway through the story instead of in the last minutes of the final episode.

That said, Sophia’s character was a bit frustrating at first. As a protagonist, she was too passive, always trying to go unnoticed or hide things, especially in the earlier episodes. Thankfully, she improves a bit by the end, and I have hope she’ll continue growing if we get a second season. I’m not familiar with the manga, so I don’t know how the story progresses there.

As for the animation, it’s pretty basic, but honestly, it’s rare to find a shoujo anime with high production quality, so I wasn’t expecting much to begin with.

Lastly, if you’re expecting constant battles just because Sophia joins the knights, you might be disappointed. The anime is more laid-back, with just enough action to support the story. But if what you’re really looking for is a solid romance with cute moments between the leads, a bit of comedy, and some fantasy sprinkled in, this could be a nice pick to relax with.

It’s not a groundbreaking story, and it doesn’t have the best visuals, but it stands out for offering a sweet and drama-free romance between the main couple, and sometimes, that’s more than enough.
