Re Zero is a typical isekai at first glance, but it's a much deeper anime than it might initially appear, filled with both goofy humor and the values of life, connections between people, decisive action, and perseverance in one's decisions. Let's examine each of these separately and in more detail.
Plot: The plot may seem bland, but I believe the more solid the foundation, the better the story itself. Even though the anime's foundation lies solely in Subaru's ability, there are many examples of anime where the entire plot revolves around a single ability. Plot structure is depicted as a return to a specific point. This entire concept clearly demonstrates how important even the most simplistic choices are and, most importantly, how dire the consequences of actions can be. Interestingly, the right choice always became the one made when Subaru finally decided on his actions and was confident in them (one could say this is obvious, but for me, this simplicity plays a big role in understanding the plot, realizing that the solution to the problem isn't that difficult)
Plot - 100/100
(Honestly, I didn't expect anything super cool here, but at least the plot is just good, it's hard to find fault with it at all)
Characters: There are simply no words to describe how amazing the characters are in this anime. Just looking at Rem Subaru and Emilia, you can already tell for sure how stunning they are. The backstories of all three are clear and understandable, the characters' actions perfectly match their personalities and behavior. The only thing I would find fault with is the lack of development of secondary characters. As for me, in so many episodes, more side characters could have been introduced (I hope this will be even better in future seasons)
Characters - 10000000000000000/100
(It's clear that they decided to go for quality rather than quantity, and in my opinion, it worked to advantage)
Theme and main idea (and a little about the atmosphere): We'll be here for a while, but first, let's start with the atmosphere—the anime strikes a perfect balance between being funny and being sad, and the OST perfectly captures that atmosphere, from fun to madness. I really like how the atmosphere is constantly moving, which keeps you from getting bored.
The theme and main idea are, of course, very difficult to describe. I really love anime that don't dwell on one topic and instead saturate the anime with several (the main thing here is to not lose the main idea, otherwise it will turn out that one arc will literally be the same as another anime, which I really dislike). In my opinion, the anime managed to maintain focus on both the main and secondary aspects. First of all, of course, are the time jumps themselves; they perhaps perfectly show the full range of themes (a VERY good choice for the ability) from the simpler to the more complex. Of course, I'm talking about the ability to make timely, blunt decisions, recognizing the possible consequences and being able to take responsibility for them, and preserving valuable experience, even if it's not so pleasant. I also noticed how Subaru was greatly helped in moments by seemingly unimportant information, but in the end it became the ideal solution to the problem, which, in my opinion, perfectly demonstrates how important even the most trivial knowledge is in life. Now what really got me hooked is Subaru's madness and his stages of Rejection, Resistance, Denial of reality, Calmness, Acceptance. Episodes 15-18 show this perfectly, and 18-21 show the determination to act. It's very well shown how important trust is in life, whether in someone else or in yourself, solving even seemingly impossible problems with the help of outside help (throughout the entire anime, Subaru never once solved his problem without resorting to the help of others). This perfectly shows the importance of connections between people and mutual understanding and relationships between them.
Theme and main idea (and a little about the atmosphere): 10000000/100
(As for me, they took everything they could, I'm very glad that such an anime was able to squeeze the maximum out of the minimum, considering that it could have been MUCH WORSE, and I didn't expect anything so good from the anime)
Conclusion: 100/100
(nothing to forgive, I liked everything)
