One of the best things in
Monster is how the character writing is balanced and fair toward each single character, The story isn’t just about
DR. Tenma chasing
Johan as I thought in the beginning
every character in the show seems to have life, purpose and true sense of reality and all that adds huge weight to the overall story
especially those two are my favorites

Another thing that astonished me is the small details in the dialogue that at first doesn’t seem significant and i actually wasn’t paying attention to most of them, but as the story progressed i just started to realize how much those details are important to the main story and how the author always get back to them.
As for the ending of the show, It was fascinating overall but the only thing that confused me was the last scene, Johan just disappeared and and we never find out why or what he’s planning to do next
I’m not really sure what was the purpose of that scene.

The mystery aspect of
Monster is undeniably great but it suffers from being revealed too slowly. From the start to the very last minute, the show keeps presenting past events and backstories in a very gradual and repetitive way
Almost the entire series depends on flashbacks and revisiting past events which can be interesting but also exhausting when done for 74 episodes.
Another issue i had was with Johan , Ok he’s an amazing character and antagonist not going to lie, but the show often exaggerates his abilities and actions without providing a convincing explanation of how he managed to pull everything off it just sounds unrealistic to me
I understand his background and motives, but sometimes it feels like he’s almost superhuman surviving and manipulating situations in ways that don’t seem possible.

There are also too many side stories scattered throughout the show, but unfortunately many of them have very little impact on the main plot and it sometimes feels more like filler than a meaningful episode, Because of that i genuinely believe that
Monster didn’t need to be 74 episodes long.
Conclusion
Despite all of this, Monster remains a great story with strong psychological depth, character writing, and moral complexity that make it one of the most intelligent shows I have ever seen, even though I still believe it could have been much better with some simple fixes.
My favorite episode: 71
My favorite character: Lunge
