Unnamed Memory was one of the first Light Novels I read and I was instantly pulled in by its realistic mature romance and lovable main characters.
The best part about Unnamed Memory is its main cast. Oscar and Tinasha are two of the most refreshing male and female leads. Oscar is the prince of a country; extremely capable and with conviction, he always feels like he has something up his sleeve and always has the ability to resolve conflict with both his strategic prowess and physical strength. Tinasha is one of the 5 witches and presides over the tower, she shares many qualities with Oscar, like being extremely reliable. She and Oscar excel in different fields, Oscar uses his magic nullifying sword and extreme technical skill with the blade, while Tinasha is one of the strongest mages with exceptional magical ability. They compliment each other perfectly and their adventures together form a great synergy between each other. Both carry an air of charisma with them that draws your attention to them.
The dynamic between Oscar and Tinasha is exceptional. The way their romance progresses is enjoyable to watch and unlike other works, fast and cuts to the chase. Tinasha is initially cold to Oscar. Oscar instantly wants Tinasha to his wife but Tinasha rejects him instantly. However, Oscar is not phased by it and keeps trying. Oscar is super charismatic and their back and forth humor is enjoyable. There's also a shift in the plot in the second half of the novel that shows a different aspect of Tinasha with Oscar. No spoilers, but basically it just restarts the romance but the dynamics of the romance are very different, and shows a new version of Tinasha that is really enjoyable to read due to the contrast between that self and her previous self. Tinasha turns from a badass reliable mature beauty to a slightly immature, but cute lovable girl. The shift is what makes it so nice. But that version does not stay forever so don't worry.
The dialogue of the LN feels natural and effective, with Oscar's straightforwardness being a pleasant surprise from an MC, I'm quite unfamiliar with actual good main characters but Oscar sets himself apart from weak MCs. Tinasha and Oscar both are a breath of fresh air from other characters as they feel much more mature, and you can see this in their dialogue. Besides just their dialogue, the way the author describes scenes is wonderful, especially with the scenes between Oscar and Tinasha, you can just FEEL the love.
The world building of the LN is fantastic. The world building feels very immersive and realistic, Farsas and the witches are compelling and interesting. The fantasy setting is done well. The action scenes are good too, you can see how well Tinasha and Oscar work together and solve problems.
Overall, this is a nice little LN with a great atmosphere. It has a great strength in its mature romance of Oscar and Tinasha, two characters I have grown extremely fond of. I recommend this for any romance genre lovers.
