Before getting into the actual review, I want to add a short disclaimer about my perspective.
I haven’t watched a huge amount of anime in my life. I mostly stuck to the classics and very popular titles that many people grew up with or that had massive mainstream impact, such as Detective Conan, Sailor Moon, One Piece, and later on shows like Demon Slayer or Attack on Titan. I’m not someone who actively searches for hidden gems or niche titles. I’d consider myself a pretty average anime viewer, and that’s the perspective this review is written from.
I also gave myself a small challenge: using a randomizer to pick an anime and then watching it (especially if it’s short) and writing a review afterward. This anime was chosen that way.
Now, onto the review itself.
Review (spoiler-free)
I want to start by saying that I don’t think I’m part of the intended target audience for this anime. It feels very clearly aimed at a younger audience. I’m a 23-year-old woman, and I personally couldn’t really relate to it. That being said, I can absolutely imagine that if I were around 15 or 16, I probably would have liked this anime a lot more.
I’ll try to keep this completely spoiler-free.
Overall, I found the anime rather boring. There were a few nice moments here and there, especially involving the male protagonist. He does and says things that, in theory, many people would wish for in a real-life partner, and I can appreciate that aspect.
My main issue lies with the female protagonist. Her entire existence seems to revolve around being quiet, submissive, and centering her whole life around her partner. Over time, this became very tiring to watch for me. I know that some people enjoy shy, reserved, or submissive female characters, but personally, that does nothing for me. I find strong female personalities far more interesting, refreshing, and realistic. Wanting to be a housewife is one thing — being reduced to a timid character with barely any agency is another.
In terms of the plot, there were many moments where I just thought: Where did this come from? Why is this happening? A lot of it didn’t really make sense to me. The story pattern felt very repetitive: she exists, she has her partner, someone else appears who suddenly wants her, that person disappears, and then the next one shows up. This cycle repeats throughout both seasons, with some background stories and random events sprinkled in between.
I watched both season one and season two, and I still didn’t feel like I had reached a proper conclusion. It didn’t feel like an ending at all. Maybe there’s more content out there — a manga continuation or a movie — but since I haven’t read or watched those, I can’t judge them here.
In the end, I wouldn’t say I regret watching this anime, but I also know I’ll probably never watch it again. It didn’t leave any lasting impact on me. It didn’t challenge my worldview or make me reflect on human or societal themes the way anime like Vinland Saga, Attack on Titan, or One Piece do.
To me, this anime feels like a small, “cute” show mainly made for younger girls — a kind of Cinderella story in anime form, with a bit of magic and some plot twists. A neglected girl, a dream prince who saves her from her situation, and a fantasy where she’s given a perfect life. It honestly reminded me a lot of Wattpad-style stories or the kind of scenarios many people imagine when they’re younger.
If you’re younger and enjoy this type of fantasy — having a “dream prince” who rescues you and gives you everything — then you’ll probably find this entertaining. For me, it worked best as pure background noise while gaming. It’s not terrible, just very forgettable.
