I'll admit it, I liked the first episode. It was something awesome with lots of action, mysterious world building, and a fresh scope of ideations that wasn't constant recycled garbage. That is, until episode two and further came along.
Get ready dear reader as I have already analyzed every episode and came up with a consensus to convince you why everything beyond the OVA and episode one is magnificent dumpster fire.
[Spoilers ahead, BIG SPOILERS, but you probably won't be watching this garbage anyways. I'd recommend to watch episode one + OVA only, anything beyond is truly a waste of time]
Okay, so to simplify it: This is a series where the majority of the damn time, nothing really happens, heck, there was an entire arc dedicated to mountains of exposition about something very easily forgettable. And when something does happen it's subpar (sort of cool) but usually (mostly-no-literally all the time) driven by extremely dumb decisions/choices and very selfish characters (all of them).
Not to mention the forced drama and anticlimactic final fight in the last two episodes with the suspicious glasses guy suddenly being revealed as the villain, causing trouble that ended up having little to no consequence other than having to wait for the side girl character to wake up, and dying not even minutes later.
And to think after all this time it turns out the person they had kept attempting the ENTIRE SERIES to make the audience think she was alive was actually dead the entire time... Bruh. It was a subversion I guess but it's like me saying I'll hand someone an ice cube and watch them act all surprised when I say it's actually hot ice, like, huuuuuh??
The main character (Akira) is the same Kirito clone (Sword Art Online) just like every other dumpster slop isekai (except in this case it isn't isekai, the mc really is just dumb). He is handed everything to him on a silver platter, makes the most insufferable and idiotic decisions, and somehow isn't dead from all the times he agregiously meticulously fucked up because of plot reasons.
I want to ensure I list every problem there is, but golly is there so much I don't have the patience nor willpower to list every atrocity that could have been easily fixed if they used more than one braincell for these kinds of things.
This has to be the mangaka's first work. We have absolute masterpieces like Serial Experiments Lain not getting a second season but garbage animes like that one isekai where the mc turned into a fucking vending machine has a third season in progress... What a crazy world we live in..
But at the end, at the empty, desolate, end, Akira (main character) that insufferable irredeemable irresponsible ambiguous idiotic bitch gets to have a happy ending while so many other great characters (I'm using 'great' very loosely here, it's like comparing dogshit to a wet fart) have to die just for him to get a oh-so-happy polyamorous ending from it, while contributing nothing at all. Others fought and died for him, others sacrificed their lives for him, but none of it matters in the grand scheme of things.
———another addition to my fine growing list of Abysmal Garbage section.
This is my personal warning to you, dear reader. Use your 4 hours wisely. Don't commit to this upheaval of glorified Abysmal Garbage. Look in the comment section of any anime streaming websites and you'll have hundreds if not thousands of people trying to save face by saying ”althought it didn't make sense, at least it was fun hehehe” running away from the realization that I, as well as many others, wasted 4 hours of our lifetimes waiting to see if this story got any better. Spoilers: it didn't.
As said by a valiant reviewer: ”I regret wasting my time on this, and I feel like even writing this post is just poor time management on my part, but I felt the need of getting it off my chest. 4/10. Never gonna rewatch it like I did with other crap shows 'cause of how unfunny this shitshow was.” I completely agree.
