Story (9/10) Characters (8/10) Pacing (6/10)
A unique story that I was not quite familiar with until I watched this anime.
I always knew of its existence, but I never knew if I should find a book or experience it through live or animated series or movies.
I took the opportunity to see for myself what the story was about, and I was shocked, it was fresh, and it was a world I had never seen before.
So many places felt magical, and the show does a wonderful job of making it feel that way. Each and every place we visited felt like there was something magical about it.
The only thing I disliked about the story was the friendship and romance between the two of the very important characters, which took ages (quite literally) to develop, and usually I'm all up for that.
But this felt like it took way, way longer than it should have, so it could just be me! :p
I really enjoyed how they got somewhat into politics. I am usually not a fan of politics, but they really tried to explain how certain things work and why some things would be better for everyone etc.
The show was great at showing us and explaining to us how the world functioned at the time.
Many of the characters felt human, their interactions were realistic, and I would always wonder what they were off to off-screen.
Some of my favorites are Marilla. I like the way she mellows out and realizes how much of a golden child Anne truly is over time.
Matthew was a true gentle giant and I wish we could have seen more of him throughout the story. He was the one who put everything into motion.
Anne, of course, was incredibly interested in her imaginative nature. She knew how to turn a sad situation into a bright one, but of course, she was not perfect, and she, too, would sometimes get sad, but that is exactly why I adore her character so much.
If I ever had a daughter I'd hope that she'd grow into a wonderful child like Anne x).
I'd also like to mention Diana, who'd be a dream to have as a friend. She was always there for Anne and Anne was always there for her and the way their friendship was portrayed will forever be magical.
Now probably the worst thing about this entire show was its pacing. Stories that felt magical would also feel incredibly rushed at times, and this is the type of story that is perfectly fit to be a long-form show (at least 50 episodes).
I really wish we'd got more episodes so that certain characters got more screen time to shine :(fast pacing is the thing that brings both of my scores for "Story" and "Characters" down from a perfect 10, as it ruined a few key moments for me which were supposed to be emotional but in the end ended up incredibly rushed
Art(7/10)
Personally, I am not the biggest fan of the character art in this show, something about it felt way too bright to me. I usually like shows that are set in the past to feel a bit darker visually if you all know what I mean.
This felt way too modern for my personal taste, so I'd say it was fine, BUT the backgrounds looked reaaallly good, and I can cut the series some slack for that. There was some very minor use of CGI, but I can overlook that.
Animation(7/10)
For what it is, you can't really expect much out of this type of show nowadays. It was better than your average slice of life anime of the season, but you won't be getting anything crazy xD. It was pretty much just the basic movement. Other than that, the animators did a perfect job at showing the emotion of the characters. Their expressions were flawless.
Personal Enjoyment (8/10)
This was really fun to watch, as it ended up being one of my highlights of 2025. It made me want to check out all the other adaptations of the Green Gables that exist and I will definitely be doing that this year!
Hopefully, I did not trigger anybody. These are all my personal feelings x)
