This is actually my first review so yeah I'm still learning XD (anything is possible in the big 2026)
I’ve been a huge fan of Studio Colorido for a while now. I absolutely loved A Whisker Away and Drifting Home, even though My Oni Girl didn’t really click for me, I was so hyped when I heard they were animating this. Honestly, I’ve always felt like this studio is a total "hidden gem" in the anime industry and after seeing this film, I’m even more sure of that. If you guys are a fan of the anime mentioned above, you are going to love this one!
The Art and Music
I’m struggling to find the right words for the animation because "amazing" doesn't feel like enough. The colors and the overall style felt like they were made by a master. It honestly might be the best-looking thing I’ve ever seen. Every little detail in the background helped build that emotional atmosphere.

Also, the music is wonderful. The songs fit every scene perfectly. Whether the story was happy or sad, the music made me feel like I was right there with the characters. Especially Ex-Otogibanashi. It is one of the highlights of the movie!
The Characters and Their Heart
The best part for me was how human everyone felt. They weren't just characters on a screen; they felt sincere and warm. I have to shout out the relationship between Iroha and her brother. That sibling bond was so well-done that I genuinely felt it myself. Even though Iroha thought her mother doesn't care for her and left her home, her brother still cared for him, even as enemies! It’s rare to see a family dynamic feel that grounded.

But the relationship that stole the show is without a doubt between Kaguya and Iroha. Their bond is honestly incredible. I was so moved by the fact that Kaguya waited 8,000 years just to see Iroha again. She was even willing to turn herself into an AI to keep her promise! Seeing her go from this silly, almost comic-relief character at the start to someone carrying all that hidden pain was a lot to take in. It really shows how much she wanted to stay by Iroha’s side.

I also loved how Iroha’s own life improved, especially seeing her relationship with her mom and brother get so much stronger. People rarely mention it but I think Iroha's friends are also very nice people for accepting Kaguya. (Personally I would get mad if a stranger ate all my cakes lol)
Tsukuyomi
The VR world: Tsukuyomi, which is imo the main attraction of this film, where the characters become who they want to be. It’s not just a cool sci-fi setting; it feels like this cold, "perfect" place that stands in total contrast to the warmth of Earth. The way the studio animated the digital atmosphere: the colors, the glitches, and the sense of scale is very tasteful. It makes Kaguya’s sacrifice feel even heavier because you see the world she had to leave behind and the digital existence she was willing to take on just to return to the person she loves.
____The Lore and the Ending [SPOILER SECTION]
Final Thought
This is a great movie for anyone into some fantasy and music with high quality animation. Studio Colorido cooked with this one! I highly recommend it!
