A detailed overview about Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita (Humanity has Declined)
--- Story: 9/10
The main character, an unnamed human called watashi, or translated as "I", has a job as a fairy mediator. Basically, acting as a bridge between humanity and fairy to create some balance between them.
And then, in the perspective of the sarcastic, nonchalant of the main character--surrounded by those little creatures, it's crafting an absurd, sarcastic humor story about human society. Some of the humor will make you laugh because how relatable and irony it is, and I think, that's their main selling point.
Many said this anime is weird, and they're not exaggerating. It's feels like it's crafted outside of the box, outside of our imagination even. I guess it's for exaggerating how the fairy thinking and shenanigans are beyond what we expected, as in like a "magic"~ It's my second watch, yet I still have a "wtf just happen" moment in the middle of the watch.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention, the anime is kinda, semi-episodic. Every two episode has no relevant to any other two episode. And somehow they released in a very weird order. I have heard the correct order of the anime is starting from episode 10, 7, 8, 3, 4, 9, 5, 6, 1, 2, 11 and 12. Basically pseudo-chronological. I don't know why they make the anime like that. Another example of their out-of-the-box thinking I guess. But if its your first time to watch, I still recommend you to watch the released order instead of the correct order. If you plan to re-watch it, you can watch it in pseudo-chronological after that, and see if it's make a new experience or not.
--- Character: 10/10
The character is fun, but most of them are nonchalant-type character. Not in a bad way. If you're watching Frieren, which has a lot of nonchalant characters, I guess you will understand what I meant. Ironically, because they're all nonchalant, somehow their personality make the punchline delivered better too. The fairy is fun to see also, but because there are so many of them, it's feels like a plot device rather than a character.
--- Art: 8/10
The art is very simple, and uses a lot of pastel palette. It's fit with it light-hearted slice of life aspect, but also kinda fit with its theme as a comedic anime. Yet, also make it feel slightly? unserious about the decline of humanity. The character design is so colorful and cute.
