First of all, i knew that was a power-fantasy slop, i knew it wouldn't have the best plot, the best characters, or anything awesome at all, but this one DISSAPOINTED me. What you mean his party simply swaped him without even knowing what he does for the team? And they are somehow the strongest party on south? That makes no sense. But that's not the problem, the pace is TERRIBLE.
Spoilers ahead:
I know there's probably a reason for this, we have been hinted about how Orun isnt a normal person, and is somehow stronger than the average, but if it's that easy to make original (and broken) 魔術, why only Orun can do it? It's also hinted on the dialogue he achieved it without remembering his original identity, he's just good like that? But it goes worse. He killed the BLACK DRAGON, a floor 92 boss, and he's not praised? People should be studying him, invading his house to know more about him, he should be treated like Lebron. The Black Dragon literally killed the strongest swordsman south ever had (and he was with his party btw!), and then Orun kills it on 1v1 and people act like this isnt the best feat they ever saw? Crazy.
We have other problems as well, on episode 11 we learn about the observer of team 10 expedition, who is a member of the 2nd strongest party from Silver Rabbits, and he's oneshotted by a girl who later is oneshoted by Orun, and somehow that girl and 2 other fodders are conrades of Shion who is a million times stronger than them? How is that team balanced? What is Amuntzers even doing?
But at least the series had some good moments. Orun powers are pretty cool, including his Special Ability. The way a party works is well explained and it makes sense within the world-building, the voice cast is quite good, the animation is decent. They use a lot of 3d in some scenes but that doesn't kill the experience at all, considering the 3d is, in my opinion, implemented well. The Black Dragon fight (the 1v1) was very cool, tho i would like to know why the dragon didn't use his regen ability that was later shown on episode 12, i don't take the "The dragon is understimating me!" thing, because the dragon was dying as well.
As for the characters, i like the trio from team 10, they feel like real characters with traumas, unlike most people in this universe, that aren't deep at all. The biggest example of team is probably Selma. Her best teammate died in a expedition 1 year ago and she doesn't seem affected at all (except for one scene with the Black Dragon skin)? Her character as a whole is "Orun is so good at magic! Maybe i have feelings for him??!".
Concluding it, i think the series deserves a 6 out of 10, nothing special, nothing terrible, but had potencial to be better for sure.
