pokemon at its peak, pokemon at its most highest quality, had almost every genre, romance,action,sci-fi, EVERYTHING.
But everything fell off at sun and moon, and overall i enjoyed at this the most as a kid, and still do these days, rewatched it a DOZEN times. I hope more peole realize how good XY and XYZ is, the ships, the storyline, and how i grew attached to the characters, and even the pokemon. Even if its cringe, we understand that it is for kids, and its also when the main character ; Ash, became the most matured form throughout the series. This became a full-on sensation throughout pokemon itself, with its catastrophic upgrade from the previous series. It had a compulsive effect to my taste, and brain itself, and my love for pokemon itself. This needs to be even more higher rated regarding its PEAK content. The fact that everything i wrote is the positives is INCREDIBLE. The only bad thing i can think of for other people is the cringiness it has, but we have to accept this flaw. This series stands out from others, even a lot of people agree with me, just shows how truly great it is. I also love how Ash got a pokegirl/love interest AKA Serena She wasnt poking around ash like others, but she actually had feelings for ash even when she was a child, and the others, Bonnie, Clemont. Clemont was a gym leader, but then he got inspired by Ash, Bonnie, her love for pokemon grew when she had an adventure with the crew since a kid, AND THE SIDE CHARACTERS, sycamore, tierno, sawyer, alain, mairin, sanpei, trevor, AND THE VILLAINS, lysandre, team flare and of course team rocket, AND THE GYM LEADERS, ramos, wulfric, grant and so much more. The filler was also pretty interesting (you know an anime is good when the filler is goated). overall : the characters GOATED, the story and plot GOATED
THE SHOW : PEAKKKKKK
But some information to look :
Serena’s Agency: Serena is often noted for having one of the most distinct character arcs. Beyond the "AmourShipping" romance, her journey from being aimless to finding her passion in Pokémon Showcases is frequently praised for its emotional maturity.
"Mentor" Ash: In this region, Ash transitions from a student to a role model. This is highlighted by his relationship with Sawyer, a rival who actively studies Ash’s strategies and views him as a "wall" to overcome.
The Team Flare Stakes: The finale involving Team Flare and the Giant Rock is widely considered the darkest and highest-stakes villain arc in the anime, involving genuine peril for the Kalos region.
The Kalos League Finale: The decision to have Ash lose to Alain’s Mega Charizard X remains one of the most divisive moments in the entire 25-year history of the anime, with many fans feeling it was narratively unearned.
Pacing in the Middle: Some critics point out that while the beginning and the end of the series are intense, the middle portion—largely focused on Pokémon Showcases—can feel like a dip in momentum compared to the action-packed XYZ finale.
