Beautiful story about life and death, with a tragic but again, meaningful and beautiful background to it. Just a damn shame it was so short. Would've loved to see more.
The characters were all unique, despite them being all arbiters and fulfilling the same role they all had their own takes on how to carry out fate.
I didn't expect much from this anime honestly, I have never heard of it prior to watching it. I'm glad I learned about it and watched it, though. It kinda leads you to face the moral dilemmas of these characters and you have to think a lot about who they are as people and whether or not you want to, or should, moralize and idealize them. Even the first episode is a great example of this, you meet a newly wed pair facing a difficult question.
I loved the main character,

Chiyuki ,very elusive, but there since the beginning, only later you find out what happened to her prior to the story. I was beyond shocked when I found out her whole life story. You know this character basically since episode 1 and you barely know who she is. I love how it is revealed to both us the viewers and to her, who she really is. Spoilers for the last two episodes, but

Chiyuki being a figure skater and facing an injury, leading to her depression and later death is really tragic, despite all the support from her family and friends. I've had this on my mind ever since I finished the anime. Just consider how different it would've been was it not for one skating accident. The second main character, Decim, is also really unique, compared to his peers, as you learn later in the show. He goes through a lot of character development throughout these few episodes. His dynamic with

Chiyuki is interesting, they compliment eachother really well
The references and little details are nice. Like how Decim runs the Quindecim bar, which means 15 in latin, and is located on the 15th floor, Ginti runs the Viginti, which means 20 in latin, and is located on the 20th floor and so on and so forth...
The art of the show is fantastic, it has this eerie vibe to it, but its a quite nice visual that you don't get to see very often.
I finished this anime a while ago and I still cannot move on from it.
There's a nice nod to Death Note, which was animated by the same company, in the last episode through a cameo which I found pretty interesting.
I can't quite compare this anime to any other, probably because I didn't see that many, but also I think it's very unique in it's genre in general.
It was perfect from start to finish, for me at least. I have nothing wrong to say about this anime. Please do watch it if you have the chance, its only 1 season and 12 episodes.
I'm still waiting on season 2, if there is one coming, I really want to see what happens to people after
