My Review of "Sentenced to Be a Hero"!

Who knew that being a hero could be such a painful punishment?
Story
Xylo Forbartz was sentenced to be a hero after being found guilty of murdering a goddess. Heroes are usually seen in a good light but in this world, heroes are the worst of the worst and are forced to fight monsters and are resurrected whenever they’re killed in action. While he and a friend, Dotta, were on a mission, they stumbled upon a new Goddess Teoritta, which ultimately changed their journey and took them on a journey of chaos and anarchy.
The Good
This was a fantastic anime. It took a spin on the idea of what heroes are perceived as and labeled them as villains despite their chivalry. I really liked that concept and it was well executed in accordance to the storyline. There were a fair share of unpredictable twists that really drove this story further. That final episode was absolute cinema and made me impatient for the second season’s release. The story was really well-written, and I liked how certain characters changed over time in behavior and dynamics with others. Speaking of characters, I loved that each of them were good at different things, like Dotta being a good scout, Rhyno being good with artillery, and Tatsuya being good at being… Tatsuya (AKA an absolute unit). Teoritta’s absolute silliness created a nice balance and provided a bit of a palette cleanser to all the serious stuff that happened throughout the show. The animation was very stunning and plentiful, especially in the fight scenes. Studio KAI understood and completed the assignment pretty perfectly. The OP/ED of this anime was nice too and the way the OP sequence showed off the various people fighting gave me- and this might sound a bit weird- Adventure Time OP vibes like how they’d travel from place to place to show the various characters. The little bits of comedy and silliness were nice and I’m glad there were characters around to give us that comedy. This show really does have a little bit of almost everything and it does a good job on everything it gives.
The Bad / Downright Ugly
To be quite honest with you, I can’t think of anything that I found bad with this anime. For what it was, I appreciated everything about this show, which is why it’s worth watching. I’m combining my “Downright Ugly” category for this since I really don’t have any complaints about this show.
Is It Worth The Watch?
This show is definitely worth watching. This was one of the more popular new anime from this season and for good reason. The story is unique enough to stand out but also not too out there to where it’s hard to get invested in. The characters were very different from each other, giving them all fun dynamics. The animation was what really made things perfect for me. I do not regret watching this show a single bit.
Thank you for taking the time to read my review. I hope this helped you with your decision on whether to watch this anime or not! If you already have watched it, I hope that you can agree with me with some of the points I made. If you enjoyed this review, I would greatly appreciate a follow too! ^^
