My Review of "You and I Are Polar Opposites"!

You know how long I’ve been waiting for this?
Story
Suzuki Miya is an energetic and social high school girl in love with a quiet, yet stoic classmate named Tani Yuusuke. Suzuki wants to make their relationship successful, but they have to go through some challenges considering their appearances and personalities are complete polar opposites. This show highlights the development of their relationship as well as the relationships of their friends.
format(webp))The Good
As someone who read the manga even before the anime adaptation for this anime was made, I’m so glad this show stayed faithful to the original source. This was such a fun show and it perfectly encapsulated the peak of the story. The comedy is right up my alley and the voice actors did such a good job portraying the various characters’ personalities, especially Suzuki and Taira’s voice actors. I thought they were absolutely perfect for them. It just feels so much more lively with their voice actors and the modernization of dialogue really compiles everything amazingly. The art style of the manga was translated really well into animation and there’s so much proof that Lapin Track were having fun making this show. From the mixed media to all the hilariously animated facial expressions of the characters, their fun in making the show easily translated to my fun watching the show. The OP and ED were really good and fit right into the story and vibes of the show. The unique mixed media I previously mentioned elevate an already good song in the OP and make the visuals so whimsical and silly. The character development in dynamics between the various romances were done so well and it just felt so realistic. These relationships feel like something that could happen in a real-world situation, and I really enjoy that. Another thing that I really enjoyed is the fact that the two main characters get into their relationship immediately in the first episode. Unlike other romance mangas, this one doesn’t string out the build up and gets right to it, which makes this story an even more interesting watch as it does a lot of different things to differentiate itself from other high school romance anime while making everything look so flawless. I’m absolutely in love with this anime and its story.
The Bad / The Downright Ugly
I couldn’t find a single bad thing with this anime. I think everything was done amazingly for this adaptation and I couldn’t ask for anything more. I’m combining my “Downright Ugly” category for this since I really don’t have any complaints about this show.
format(webp))Is It Worth The Watch?
Absolutely. 100 percent. If you’re tired of those repetitive high school rom-coms and want something unique that’s still fun and somewhat realistic and has all the enjoyable parts of a romance anime, this will be worth the watch. The manga reader in me is so happy that this adaptation turned out so well. To add on, not a lot, if not any, of those “fanservice” scenes that you’d see in other romance shows show up in this romance show. From the OST to the voice acting to the animation to the story, everything about this is what I would want from a high school romance anime. I cannot wait for season 2 to come out.
Thank you for taking the time to read my review. I hope this helped you with your decision on whether to watch this anime or not! If you already have watched it, I hope that you can agree with me with some of the points I made. If you enjoyed this review, I would greatly appreciate a follow too! ^^
