I might be slightly biased while writing this, since I really enjoy the Isekei genre. But let me tell you: Overlord is my favourite Isekei, right after No Game No Life and Saga of Tanya the Evil, and I really think it's something many can enjoy, even if they're not too big on the Isekei genre. Here's why.
Story: 10/10
Like I said before, even if you're not too big on the Isekei genre, the story of this anime is amazing. Just watching the plot thicken was enough to envelope anyone is the amazing story of this series, and it's just outstanding to see all the characters perspectives throughout all the seasons. Not to mention it really connects to you as a viewer. With the action of each move of each plot element, the story becomes better and better until you think it can't get any better. The story shows the viewers the excitement that comes out of an action anime, while also showing them some controversy through showing the viewers the view points of the antagonists, something most anime's never even bother doing. I never once felt bored while watching Overlord, and a lot of that is because of the amazing story and it's plot progression.
Characters: 11/10
I rated the characters 11/10. Yeah that's right, the characters are just that good. Each servant, each antagonist, and even the main anti-hero himself, Ainz, are nothing short of magnificent. Seeing each perspective of each character, will usually bore the average anime viewer, but Overlord makes sure not to do that. Each character, from their good sides to their... rather bad sides, is very entertaining to say in the least. I don't want to spoil too much, but with each addition to a new character the viewer was unaware existed, Overlord just keeps getting more hype for the next episode. The cast of Overlord is a big one, but somehow, it does an amazing job at handling it. While watching the anime, one can't simply choose a favourite character or even a best girl, because they all are best girl. Even the males.
Artwork 9/10
When one is introduced into the land of Yggdrasil, they are introduced with very cool scenery from the small towns, to The Great Tomb of Nazarick. Overlord takes the whole "fantasy" genre, and turns it into a whole new world. Though most of the art style is fine, there are a few things it could work on, which you will understand when you watch the show
Overall: 10/10
When watching this anime, one can not simply help but enjoy it to its fullest. Even if you're not into Isekei, it differs from other Isekei in ways that can only be understood when watched. From he amazing cast, to the interesting story, this anime is sure to envelope each and every on of its viewers.
