This was a good watch.
“A tale of two people, Tono Takaki and Shinohara Akari, who were close friends but gradually grow farther and farther apart as time moves on. They become separated because of their families yet continue to exchange contact in the form of letters. Yet as time continues to trudge on, their contact with one another begins to cease. Years pass and the rift between them grows ever larger. However, Takaki remembers the times they have shared together, but as life continues to unfold for him, he wonders if he would be given the chance to meet Akari again as the tale embarks on Takaki's realization of the world and people around him.”
First of all I want to make this clear that the movie is divided into three parts or episodes all three of them tell the story of the same two main characters but are set in different phases of their life. So I’m gonna compare the good and bad points of all the three parts/episodes.
The best thing about this movie is it’s art and OST. I’ve got to say Makoto Shinkai never disappoints with the visuals; all his movies have seriously amazing visuals. But I’ve got to say this wasn’t the best of his visual work in my opinion. The art differed a little between the 3 episodes in this movie. The second part/episode had the best art. The first and third ones had good art.
The OSTs were good in every part/episode. I loved the song that played at the end. I don’t know it’s name but it was really awesome.
The characters were fine and all really. The character design wasn’t really my fav it was okay-okay. They didn’t leave much of an impression and were not that solid. But still I liked one character or felt a lil good about it was Kanae Sumida she appears in the second part/episode only.
Storywise I liked the second part/episode the most. The first one comes second to it and the one I least liked the story of was the third part/episode bcz it kinda felt rushed and like nothing happened. Another reason I didn’t like it much was because I couldn’t connect much with the stories you know they were not that really appealing to me but I think this fact could differ from person to person.
In conclusion, I liked it enough to not feel like I wasted my time at all. Seriously, it was a good watch. It was a good experience because I’ve heard so many mixed reviews of this show. It seemed like a complete hit or miss movie that will totally depend on the person. So you know I watched it completely out of curiosity as to what it is all about and I wanted to judge it and create my own opinion about it and not blindly just agree with someone else’s opinion. Also I thought even if this was gonna turn out to be bad it’s gonna be still worth it because you know sometimes you have got to watch some bad to better appreciate the good ones right so that was my main reason to watch this.
In the end I would recommend everyone to do the same. I’m not gonna highly recommend you to watch it but if you feel like just do it. It’s really a total hit or a total miss movie so it’s gonna differ for everyone.
