>Sometimes The Journey Is More Beautiful Than The Destination
The first thing about Vagabond that everyone will notice is it's artwork. It has one of the best manga art of all time and in my opinion it has THE best art. Inoue Takehiko was able to show even the smallest details in such a way that it just gives off a larger than life aura while being fully likeable.
The story follows Shinmen Takezo who later becomes Miyamoto Musashi in his journey to become "Invincible Under The Sun". Musashi goes to the battle of Sekigahara with his childhood friend Matahachi and everything mainly starts from there. His actual journey started after becoming 'Miyamoto Musashi' but the battle of Sekigahara started the change in him and it is a significant part which is shown throughout the story.
The art itself tells a story. Vagabond is one of the greatest manga at least in my opinion and even if anyone doesn't like the story much, it is impossible to not like the artwork that is sometimes hard to believe was done by hand.
Vagabond follows Miyamoto Musashi and uncovers the truth about the unanswered questions about life. At the beginning Musashi is just a naive teen but as the story goes and he meets all these swordsman and other personalities, he starts to learn more. As he starts to learn more, he also starts to question life more. Vagabond is not just a story about a swordsman becoming stronger. It can be called a person growing up in front of us. We see all the roller coaster of a journey Musashi goes through. He has ups and downs but his great ambitions keep him going.
Vagabond teaches us about life itself and what it means to live. Though vagabond is unfinished it still manages to give off lots of life lessons which can be useful even in our lives. At the end we ourselves can grow as a person. It is a journey for us as well with how Inoue Takehiko was able to show it. And the character development in Vagabond cannot be expressed with words. Even the smalled characters who maybe don't even stay for the full arc. They all have their own life stories and own ambitions.
>Providence may guide a man to meet one specific person, even if such guidance eventually leads him to darkness. Man simply cannot forsake the beauty of his own chosen path. When will man learn a way to control his soul? -Berserk
Musashi and Otsu both liked each other and wanted to be with each other. At times, Musashi was pained over which path to choose but in the end he chooses the way of the sword. He still wants to be with Otsu but "Man simply cannot forsake the beauty of his own chosen path" so he still chooses that path.
Musashi goes to many places challenging the strongest. As he continues his journey he finds all the lackings that he has and the inner demon inside him that haunts him. As he tries to overcome his inner demons we ourselves learn many life lessons. As he continues to win duels and his name spreads wide, he is given the title "Invincible Under The Heavens. Along the way Musashi learns more about himelf. He explores what is inside him. He finally starts to recognize his true feelings which were buried deep inside.
In short, Vagabond is a masterpiece with great artwork and storytelling which follows Miyamoto Musashi where he starts off being called "The devil Child" to become "Invincible Under The Heavens" through many hardships. Which is shown in the best way possible through Inoue Takehiko's storytelling and Artwork
