This is a completely honest review, after dissecting every flaw and key positive of this anime.

After having watched Elfen Lied in quite a lengthy duration compared to most of my usual watches due to breaks and excessive doubting of it's quality, I committed to completing it and do not regret watching it, despite it not being worthy of liking.

How I feel about Elfen Lied is a little bit, mixed, for lack of a better word. I did somewhat enjoy it, but it was not a splendid show due to many things it's failed to have done.

Episode 12 was the redeeming episode for Elfen Lied.... don't get me wrong, Elfen Lied isn't bad, it's just i wish they executed it better, it had so much potential, I mean some scenes were close to brilliant, but never hit that mark..

It's an okay anime. It felt like a 8/10 at times, but it evens out with the cringe and lackluster moments in the anime, it feels as though around 20% of it is actually solid.

When it comes to being dark, it excels, but not in a dumb way though. It doesn't have much regard for human emotions and might slaughter just to be dark at times, but perhaps not as much as the general dark genre in media. It's story is what truly makes it dark, not it's gore and gruesomeness in that sense. I won't go much into spoiling territory at all for those who haven't sat down and watched this unique anime. The flashbacks get periodically more intense, and a few times are executed quite well, despite the bothersome 2004 animation and the mediocre VA. Overall, fairly well displayed in terms of gruesome and apathetic horror, and not to be overlooked due to it's many apparent flaws

This anime is often either adored or truly despised of. I find this to be repelling and obnoxiously annoying. This anime deserves at the very least an honest and unbiased review ad a reasonable one at that. Many viewpoints on this anime are extremely strong and often lack clear explanation for it's disliking or favoring.

Personally, I find it important to look at both sides, and try to just stop and think about the whole picture. Again, this isn't a terrible anime, but it isn't great either, it sits well at the score given below in my opinion.

Those who find this anime to be complete and a garbage, at least comprehend that this is easily not so.

- Entertainment: 6/10

Note: The opening song (Lilium) it's very good, it lured me to check this anime out after knowing very little but controversy of it.

Is this terrible? Not so as well.
Is this worth a watch? I'd say so.
