Kamisama ni Natta Hi, also known as The Day I Became a God, is definitely an interesting one. This was easily my most hyped anime of the year by far, honestly probably My most hyped new anime since I started watching anime. I am a huge fan of Maeda's other works so I assumed this would be the same... Well this is probably my least favorite work of his (it's up there) but it's still okay and I'm definitely not (that) upset with how it turned out.
This Anime is mostly a comedy, and it works well, the comedy is funny and it has has good comedic timing and it mixes well with the dramatic elements later on in the show and it makes you care about the characters. I was expecting this to be some sort of masterpiece because Maeda's reputation requires some sort of respect due to all of the stuff that he has made previously, so you have to expect something pretty good from him whenever his name is put on it, and pretty much all the time he delivers. This time he also delivered but it isn't a masterpiece like I was thinking it would be, so I left a tad bit disappointed.
The visuals and sound design for the show were absolutely incredible, rivals pretty much the best of the best that anime has to offer, PA Works did a great job with that. The pacing was a bit all over the place because It definitely felt like it needed more episodes than the 12 it recieved. They did not spend enough time on developing some of the characters and just gave them one flashback and then gave up and I think that it really hurt the overall story .The ending wasn't the best, they could have handled it a lot better and made it far less bittersweet, but it is definitely far better than a generic bs happy ending that makes no sense. The Characters were pretty interesting and had good background stories behind them even though I wish they went into more detail on some of the stuff that they were telling us. The soundtrack is incredible as expected and it definitely has its fair share of sad music, Still overall I would say that while this isn't the dramatic, clannad-style masterpiece I was hoping for, It was probably the best I could have hoped for out of a 12 episode anime that tries to be a slice of life for the majority of the show and then actually get to the main plot point near the end rushing the ending. definitely worth a watch to anybody looking for something that's worth their time. So yeah, I know this isn't a great review because I'm not a professional reviewer or anything I'm just an average person and It may also be because it took me like six minutes but eh who really cares, it's not like anybody is going to end up reading this review anyways...
