I'm not gonna lie, I had expected to see the worst of the worst show I've ever watched when I started watching this one, and yes, maybe I was right or maybe not. Domestic Girlfriend? What did you want to expect alone from the title? A quality show? Really, you didn't want to expect it to be that was. I had expected the worst show ever and had it reached the target or even exceeded it? Unfortunately, no. It didn't make it. That went... yeah, average. It's neither good nor bad, somewhat bland with a classic antagonistic plot to divide each side into two teams, standard romance and basically, superficially flawed characters which disguised into the nudity scenes for the sake of gaining popularity. Well, well, let's see how far I could go with writing the first review after 2 months ago - I guess? - and see if I would make this review as the best that I've written so far - and got some awards! Maybe - so I'm gonna make this one count, being productive, moving away from my laziness and trying to grasp the understanding regarding this show.
Okay, are you feeling better? Was it good? Better than expected, of course. Apart from Uhm the blue-haired girl with magenta eyes, cough this is the only thing that is worth it. I'll break the scores down, and why I gave 8 instead of 5 or lower. Pretty much if this song doesn't count into my scoring system, expect to see a 6/10 or even lower, but well, not being cruel, but with a trash plot like this they still could provide a quality soundtrack should be appreciated by the anime lovers here, yeah. I actually want to make a free-spoiler for this one but I can't so if you read this, BE READY TO GET SPOILED. And if you read this but you still want to continue, it's your fault, blame yourself. It's almost impossible to not include spoilers in a review. And you can't quit, from this as you've read the half of this review - Well, maybe 1/3 but doesn't matter. It's the same as the plot of this show, whereas you can't stop and repeating it, all you simply can do copy and paste your experience to move away from what you've done, easy right? Perhaps, it sounds easy, better said than done.

It started from a simple narration, you don't need to have the desire to do it with someone that you don't love, curiosity is more than enough to trap you. Well, at least this is the main narration of this story. Fuuji Natsuo, a 17 years old guy who craved for love, ironically loving his teacher while also having the ambition to become a writer due to his hobbies on writing love stories met Rui Tachibana, an unknown girl, they are not from the same school but they met when his friends asked him to join the karaoke party just for having fun. Rui wanted to know how it feels to have an intimate relationship with someone else as someone always said to her that she isn't old enough to know about the adult world. And the problem went on from here after they did the intimate relationship, they have agreed to each other, pretending this never happens before, and will never meet each other. Sounds easy, better said than done, doesn't it? Natsuo told this to his friend, everything that happened to him, he is Fuyumi, his classmate at High School, of course, he surprised, I mean, who doesn't? And then, after that happens, he found himself to meet his step-sisters that happens to be his first crush, Tachibana Hina, and a girl he met when the first time he lost his worth as a guy, - I know this one sounds silly but maybe makes sense, right? - Tachibana Rui. After that, the problems would come and go, just like the usual electronic cinema that you used to watch every day on TV.
So, first of all, the start went smooth, I like the pacing, at least it's not forced, the timing was right, it's an excellent thing of a show, and this would be better hadn't the director has made a shitty plot and fucked up the entire show with unnecessary characters (not to mention how Alex came out of nowhere just for helping Natsuo, that ain't funny). The characters? How about that? It's not a good show and you still expected good characters? Come on, don't be naive. The MC sucks, too many whores are there - except Rui, best girl - and some twists were misplaced, - including when the MC found Hina with her first crush - but it's not that bad, isn't it? At least, you get an incredible OP, "Kawaki wo Ameku" or also known as crying for the rain, I feel the vibes of listening Kuzu No Honkai OP and Tokyo Ghoul OP at the same time due to the powerful and such a heartbroken lyrics, so they made the well-done job there. However, the ED was "failed" to match the OP, as it's too bland or standard as it doesn't worth it to listen on that one, given how mere the importance of proceeding into the next episode section. Otherwise, I liked the climax of this story as it sounds great to see how it burned after the flame has spread elsewhere to nowhere place, pretty much to savour the end of this story - but some said the manga isn't any better as well. Next, I would say the visual elements were fine, I might like the art style, not too bad for the animation and the lightings were nicely done, as the portrayal of this story was before the release of the actual show - the background timeline was 3-4 years earlier - it gave me the nostalgic visualization given how crap the plot was, but I still enjoyed it.
Yes, there, I said it. If you want to have a good reference to become a writer, this might be good to get on with. To be honest, as a writer itself, it gave me a deep message of being a writer itself, as the background is taken at the school and the MC itself apparently wanted to become a writer. Maybe, compared to the other shows, this one wouldn't be a very good one to have but it's still worth it. Imagine winning a competition due to terrible experiences you had for your entire life, does it sound nice? Indeed, it does. Also, I would recommend watching this show if you're looking for the comedy romance, or maybe just a comedy, the references here are worth it - just like the usual romantic comedy show, but it's slightly better without fans service, in my opinion - to calm and relax your mind. Don't watch this show if you're looking for a good plot, well-written characters, or a sort of fans services here - yeah yeah, I know what you mean, but I didn't see any fans services here - to have, trust me, you won't get it here. This show itself, maybe some people didn't get the hidden meaning of this show, but there are some important messages which hidden behind the show, and it's still relevant with the real-life dilemma as well. Many people forget to grasp the understanding of a show, especially the hidden meaning, but I occasionally found it, no matter how much or less it was. Okay, I think that's all. You would want to say the score is overrated but I don't mind, so long as I enjoyed it, but if I had to put the plot alone, it should be lower than 7/10, let's just say 5.5/10. Yeah, that's it and thank you for reading this worthless and uneducated review.
