History aficionado and member of the Castle Tintagel, an organization which runs the Japan Armored Battle League, a polearm-centric battle tournament. As stated on his website, other than drawing manga and history, his other interests are soccer and cats. He also hates cucumbers and pickles.
Made his debut as a mangaka in 1997 with "Pig King", which won the Afternoon Shiki Award. Around winter of the same year, he worked as an assistant to Yukinobu Hoshino, who greatly influenced his style.
He got married in the summer of 2001 and later moved to his wife's hometown of Kanazawa.
