Yumiko Tabuchi is one of the writers of the Otome-tique movement of shoujo manga, alongside A-ko Mutsu and Hideko Tachikake.
Yumiko Tabuchi won the Manga School prize from magazine Ribon in 1969 and made her professional debut in 1970 with her short story "Mama tte Fushigi" (ママって不思議) in Ribon Extra Issue. She enrolled in Waseda University's Department of Literature in 1973 and was part of the nursery rhyme research society.
