Illustration, manga, video game character design… ippatu is a versatile artist. Their style, characterized by a keen eye for detail, led him to work as an assistant to the renowned manga artist Jirô Taniguchi. A lover of animals and nature since childhood, they have enjoyed blending real landscapes with fantasy elements from their imagination since those early days. Their discovery of René Magritte’s painting "The Collective Invention" was a true turning point that motivated him to take up drawing.
However, it was the works of the master Osamu Tezuka that sparked their interest in manga. They were fascinated by "Tomorrow, the Birds", in which birds and humans are blended to create unique characters. Since then, ippatu has never stopped creating their own hybrids. For him, beyond appearance, it is emotions that define the identity of every being…
Their talent and meticulousness led him, one thing leading to another, to Jirou Taniguchi’s studio, where they were entrusted with certain backgrounds for "The Guardians of the Louvre" and "The Lonely Gourmet". It was there that he met Tadahiro Uesugi, an experienced assistant and artist known for their work on Disney films ("Big Hero 6", "Coco"). Working alongside them, ippatu further refined their technique and discovered the world of Western comics. The ultra-detailed backgrounds and incredible worlds of Nicolas de Crécy left a particularly strong impression on him.
At the same time, they worked as an illustrator and tried their hand at writing their own fiction, which led to him winning an award from the major publisher Shogakukan. After publishing several short stories, they launched their first series, "Ginjuji QQQ-hen", under the pen name Ichiha Magokoro. They were also spotted by a video game studio, which hired him as a character designer.
Through all these experiences, ippatu has developed a rich and varied world filled with colorful characters, including Tsugumi Project (a manga series created with french publisher Ki-oon before getting published in Japan in Kodansha's Weekly Young Magazine).
