I am a 26 year-old anime fan who enjoys anime, manga, music and video games. I really enjoy anime and manga that can use their stories to reflect their creators' views on life and leave you with something to consider. As far as my scoring goes, for a series to be one of my favorites or a 9.5+ it must have an enjoyable story and characters, great themes and philosophy, and/or evoke a strong emotional response. A great soundtrack and animation also generally increases my enjoyment of a series even if the rest of the show doesn't hold up. I generally dislike anime without clear direction both thematically and plot-wise. I like to finish an anime and have a clear take-away after I've finished the series. I also take into account how well-written the story and characters are and my scoring reflects my overall thoughts on a series based on my criteria and personal taste.
