GATE: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri
A gateway opens in Tokyo's Ginza shopping district in the present day, and an army of medieval knights and fantasy creatures spills out and slaughters several thousand bystanders before the Self-Defense Forces drive them back through. The Japanese government's policy response is to send a battalion through the gate. Lieutenant Itami — a JSDF reservist and the otaku who happens to be on shift the day it opens — is given a recon assignment and a small team. Beyond the gate is a feudal-magical empire, a young apprentice mage, a demigod priestess of death, and a half-elf survivor of a dragon raid the JSDF arrives just in time to retaliate for.
