Sakamoto is the coolest boy in his high school class within five minutes of arrival, and stays that way for the run of the series. The comedy is not the smug-protagonist genre, though. Each episode opens on a classmate, teacher, or street thug attempting to humiliate or extort him, and ends with Sakamoto having dispatched the situation with sleight-of-hand, ballet-precision physics, or a delivered insult so understated nobody is sure whether to clap. The show treats him as a force of nature the cast has to acclimate to, and lets the absurdity escalate accordingly.
