Kusuo Saiki was born with every psychic ability a fiction writer has ever imagined, and the only thing he wants out of life is to be left alone. He has settled on a strategy: blend in, lie about his hair color, never speak unless absolutely necessary, and avoid eye contact with the loudest kid in the room. The strategy collapses on contact with Riki Nendou, a brain-empty classmate immune to telepathy because there is nothing in his head to read, and Shun Kaidou, a chunibyo convinced the world is run by a Dark Reunion he is destined to defeat. Saiki's quiet life is over.
