Kraft Lawrence is a twenty-five-year-old peddler working the back routes of a pseudo-medieval Europe, when he discovers a young woman with wolf ears and a tail asleep in his wagon's wheat sack. She is Holo, a harvest goddess the local farmers stopped praying to a generation ago, and she would like a ride north.
