Oyasumi Punpun
Punpun Onodera is drawn as a small cartoon bird, and his family draws as cartoon birds with him, and the rest of the world is photo-real Japan. He is a kid in elementary school when the manga opens, with a crush on a new transfer student named Aiko, ambitions about Nobel Prizes, and a god he has invented to pray to in his head. The manga then follows him into adolescence and adulthood as the bird metaphor stops being whimsical, the family stops staying together, the crush warps into something neither of them is equipped to handle, and the god in his head begins giving him advice. It does not let up.
