“Hello there,” would have said Kenobi to General Grievous.
Italian, born in 2002. Law student.
I approached anime and Japanese culture back in 2014; my first anime was Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, which was… certainly an intense way to start. Memories from that time are a bit blurred, but the impact definitely wasn’t.
I don’t have a single favorite anime — the list would be far too long. I’m particularly drawn to 80s and 90s aesthetics, a true golden era for the medium, and to Japanese city pop from the same period (Miki Matsubara, Meiko Nakahara, Kanako Wada).
I also appreciate the more erotic side of the medium: hentai and erotism as expressive forms, not merely for provocation, but for how they explore desire, intimacy, and boundaries within Japanese visual culture.
Tastes are subjective, and with a field this vast, disagreement is only natural.
