A few things about my ratings.
First, I rate almost entirely based on emotional impact. Art is vibes, anime is art, and I judge art entirely subjectively and totally based on my emotional reaction. The best anime make me feel, deeply, while a mid anime doesn't make me feel anything. A bad anime might make me angry.
Second, I value writing above everything else in anime. Story, character, and writing all matter to me more than any other aspect. I can appreciate good animation and I love good music but I'm definitely biased towards story.
Third, I'm extremely biased towards originality. I can still appreciate a show with old tropes but I'm really biased negatively towards anime that are recycled or stereotypical. If I find a show easily predictable, or feel like I've seen it before, I definitely don't view that as a positive. Mostly because a show being predictable or recycled really takes away from the emotional impact.
