Hope's Peak Academy admits only the country's most talented high schoolers — the Ultimate Lucky Student, the Ultimate Programmer, the Ultimate Detective, and so on — and graduating from Hope's Peak is supposed to mean a settled life. Fifteen students arrive for the entrance ceremony and wake up locked inside the campus by a sadistic robotic teddy bear named Monokuma, whose graduation rules are simpler than the school's: murder a classmate without the rest figuring out who did it. Class trials follow each killing. Whoever the survivors fail to identify graduates alone.
