For a dumb fanservice show, it more than exceeds the sum of it's parts.
It will take a good 2/3 of the series to see the depth, but it is proof a brilliance in a story beyond characters.
Strike Witches takes multiple routes to stand out and does not quite excel in any of them but its good none the less.
Strike Witches doesn't know what it wants to be, and it shows.
