BLACK LAGOON
Rokurou Okajima is a junior salaryman flown to Southeast Asia to deliver a sensitive disc for a Tokyo trading firm. He is kidnapped off his own freighter by the crew of the Black Lagoon, a torpedo boat run by ex-soldier Dutch out of the lawless port city of Roanapur. His company decides he is not worth ransoming. Rokurou — newly nicknamed Rock by the crew's gunslinger Revy — decides he is not going home either. The series follows the Lagoon's runs through Roanapur's smuggling economy, the rival cartels they share the harbour with, and the slow disappearance of the man Rock used to be.
Raw, Real, and Unapologetically Badass
If Tarantino decided to make an action anime, in the best possible way.
Black Lagoon is rated E for Everyone
There are few anime with the level of blood, gore, violence, and shear ferocity as Black Lagoon.
Not quite the action spectacle I wanted, but still a fun time nonetheless
Sometimes suffers by its own edginess but is supported by some great thematic moments and uniquely flawed characters
Detailed if occasionally disjointed story held together by characters that deserve more.
