Kimi no Suizou wo Tabetai
The narrator finds a half-burnt notebook in a hospital waiting room titled Living With Dying and discovers, the next afternoon at school, that it belongs to Sakura Yamauchi — the loudest, most-liked girl in his year, who has pancreatic cancer and three months to live. Nobody else has been told. The film is the few months that follow: the lists Sakura works through, the polite distance the narrator keeps trying to maintain, and the small slow understanding that he is the only person currently in her life whose grief she is not also trying to manage.
