Hiya and welcome to my page; make yourself at home. I’ve considered myself an anime fan since 2013 and as I began to watch more and more anime, I wanted a way to keep track of it, and so, under the name Pockeyramune919, I created an account on Myanimelist. Fast-forward five years and I find myself migrating to Anilist because ~~MAL was a hunk of junk that was inaccessible for a good half a year~~ I liked the more visible community, the plethora of scoring options, and the more modern UI. I also noticed that Anilist was more conducive towards long-term reviews, which I quickly took a stab at.I’ve since made the ~~absolutely insane~~ commitment of reviewing every manga I read and anime I watch. With 88 reviews and counting, I think I’m doing pretty well for myself, wouldn’t you say? I’m happy to say my reviews have come a long way. While they can be a bit stressful to juggle on top of my other responsibilities, at the end of the day, I enjoy writing them. While I write in part them for myself, I write them for others too, so I hope you enjoy them as well.
When it comes to what I watch and read, while I can be picky at times, I generally don’t constrain myself to a few genres.
If you couldn’t tell by the reviews, I enjoy writing in my free time, particularly fiction, and I dream of one day being a renowned novelist. When I’m not writing or watching anime, I read (novels, not just manga), jog, play video games, ~~burn money by buying and~~ building Gunpla, and listen to music.

These are guidelines as opposed to hard and fast rules. Scores given might not fit exactly in these boxes, and that’s okay. What’s life without a little flexibility?

The creme de la creme of works I review. If I gave an animanga an A, I absolutely loved it from start to finish. While nothing’s perfect, these animanga have so few or so minor flaws that they’re practically perfect; even if they’re not “objectively” perfect, they’re perfect for me. I tend to be stingy with handing these out; after all, even if I like most things I watch/read, I’m not * enamored* with most of them. This is the land of the favorites and the masterpieces; animanga here are either the best a genre/series has to offer or they deeply resonate with me for one reason or another. If you met me in real life, these are animanga I’d happily yammer on and on about while you desperately search for a way to remove yourself from the conversation.
Examples:
Turn A Gundam Flowers of Evil Samurai Champloo Rec
To B or not to B. The answer is definitely ‘to B.’ For something to get a B means that I thoroughly enjoyed it. Animanga in the B range have flaws, of course, perhaps even noticeable ones, but they aren’t severe enough to negatively color the animanga. Works here are often very technically sound. I’ll wholeheartedly recommend something that’s earned a B and they’re often some of the best a particular genre has to offer.

The worst letter in my grading scale. Animanga here have failed to entertain me in any meaningful way. Because of this, I consider them to have “failed.” If I grade something an F, it almost always means that I regret having had watched/read it. There could still be some good aspects, but they’re either so incredibly minor or so drowned out by the bad that they might as well not be there. While more scores are encompassed here than any other grade range, it’s paradoxically probably the grade with the least variation in terms of my thoughts. At the end of the day, while I can respect an F+ much more than an F-, a failure’s a failure and I can’t recommend either.
You might notice that I have much more animanga I consider “passed” than “failed.” This is parts because I’m somewhat selective of what I watch and parts because I tend to be pretty easy to please. I’m not wild on animanga in the C-range but I can find something redeemable about them, overall.

School Days The Rising of Shield Hero Oresuki
- I prefer watching dubs over subs
- My username is the same one I used at Myanimelist. In middle school, during one of anime club meetings,we ate Pocky and Ramune. For my user name, I combined the two (while misspelling Pocky) to my birthday (September, 19). If you want to shorten my name when referring to me, Pockey's fine.
- My favorite food is Pizza and I eat it every Friday as per a family tradition I came up with during elementary school.
- Some of my favorite bands/artists include Dire Straits, Tears for Fears, Nujabes, Kendrick Lamar, Hall & Oates, and Foster the People.
- My favorite video games are Final Fantasy VII and Mother 3.
