If I were to choose a favorite genre it'd be Adventure or Coming of Age, but my taste range is vastly wide. From childish to mature, realistic to imaginative, lighthearted to serious, I watch/read stories from all spectrums. The only ones I usually avoid are generic romcoms, specially if paired with harem or ecchi.
I rarely watch or read something that has its original source still in publication because reading manga weekly/monthly/etc is boring (except for episodic and/or SoL stories), and I also tend to prefer going to the source rather than the adaptation, for these reasons, I give priority to original anime and manga that are already completed.
I'm not the kind of person to be bothered by spoilers, unless its a mystery-driven show where guessing the truth and getting tricked is part of the fun, otherwise I don't mind knowing things like deaths, twists, transformations, etc. It makes me look forward to it instead of ruining my experience.

Back when I was a child I didn't like to watch linear stories because I'd always miss a episode and find myself lost in what is happening, for this reason, I usually avoided watching anime on TV (with the expection of Blue Dragon, which unfortunately I couldn't watch until the end), and would stick with episodic western cartoons instead. However, I really liked anime artstyle and wanted to watch them, and since I couldn't do it properly on TV, I bought DVDs to enjoy them without missing episodes, the first ones I watched like that were One Piece, Inazuma Eleven, Saint Seiya and Naruto, but only ~20 episodes of each of them. Later when I was 10/11, I got a computer and internet, and this was the point were I started turning into a otaku, I could finally watch all of Naruto and Saint Seiya, Dragon Ball, and other dubbed stuff, after that I started watching subbed anime like Naruto Shippuden, Tokyo Ghoul and Fairy Tail, until I eventually started to watch a variety of anime besides Battle Shounens.
By the way, here is how my favorite has changed over time:
Naruto -> Zero no Tsukaima -> Hunter x Hunter 2011 -> FLCLWith manga, the first one I tried to read was a Naruto spin-off (that would later be incorporated into Boruto), but it wasn't much of a pleasant read, I thought it was a bit difficult to get into it, specially black and whites ones, so I didn't try to read another manga unil 2018, when I read Spirit Circle and the colored versions of One Piece and Battle Tendency, I enjoyed reading them and started to read even more stuff. Nowadays I prefer manga in general, I find it faster, more convenient, and easier to get in the mood.

“The world was a number of boxes. People twist their bodies and enter their own boxes. They live like that their whole lives. In time, inside the box, they forget. They forget what they liked. Who they liked. They forget the form they once had. That’s why I will leave the box. I am the chosen one.” - Sanetoshi (Mawaru Penguindrum)
