Josee to Tora to Sakanatachi
Tsuneo Suzukawa is a marine-biology graduate student saving for a study trip to Mexico. Josee — a young woman with no use of her legs — lives with the grandmother who has kept her largely indoors for the entire twenty-something years of her life. The two meet by accident when Tsuneo intervenes in a runaway wheelchair down a hilltop street, and Josee's grandmother hires him as her daily caretaker. The film is the short, quiet season the two of them spend going to the sea Josee has not been allowed to look at, and the much longer reckoning they each have after.
Simple but yet beautiful
An emotional roller coaster ride between Tsuneo and a disabled female young adult Josee while pursuing their dreams
Josee the tiger and the fish is my new golden standard of anime films
Josee is the Holy Grail of "cliché" romance movies. (Rewatched & Updated 2026!)
When a man with a passion and a girl wondering what to do with one meet, what happens? This made my tears flow...
Aren't we all a little bit like Josee?
Despite being tropey and cliche, it is ultimately beautiful and enchanting.
A sweet pick-me-up that won't let you lose heart.
Overall this movie shows a big range of REAL emotions in a movie with a very simple and obvious story. Its holy good.
