Yuta Okkotsu has been haunted since middle school by the spirit of his childhood friend Rika, who died in a traffic accident in front of him and whose curse has grown stronger every year. The film opens on Yuta enrolling at Tokyo Jujutsu High under Satoru Gojo's quiet sponsorship, partly to learn how to suppress the curse and partly to be removed from the civilian population the curse keeps attacking. The plot moves through Yuta's first months with classmates Maki, Inumaki, and Panda, and the confrontation with Suguru Geto, who has begun a sorcerer pogrom and intends to use Rika as a weapon.
