Eren's hardening of the Rumbling commits the wall titans of Paradis to a single march across the rest of the world, and Special 1 covers the response. Mikasa, Armin, Reiner, and the remaining Scouts coordinate with the surviving Marleyan officers — the people most of them have been trying to kill for the last three seasons — to stage a final attempt at intercepting him. The special is the longest sustained action sequence the series has ever attempted, and it spends as much time on the moral arithmetic of the people choosing to stop Eren as on the impossible scale of what he is doing.
