Adding New Entries

This page covers requests for entries that don't yet exist on Waifora. For changes to existing entries (typo fixes, missing characters, wrong staff, etc.), see Submission Process.

What can be added

Entity	Can be requested
Anime	✅ once it is officially announced with at least one primary source.
Manga	✅ once at least one chapter is officially released.
Character	✅ but only within an existing or newly approved anime/manga entry — never as a standalone entry.
Staff	✅ same rule as characters: tied to at least one media credit.
Studio	✅ once it has at least one credited production.

Required information

A new-entry request must include:

1. Canonical title in the original language (Japanese for most anime, native script for manga from other regions).
2. Romanised title, and an English title if an official one exists.
3. Type/format: TV / Movie / OVA / ONA / Special / Music (for anime); Manga / Novel / One-shot / Doujin (for manga).
4. Status: Not yet released / Releasing / Finished / Cancelled / Hiatus.
5. At least one official primary source linking to publisher, studio, or licensor (see Sourcing).
6. Release date (or scheduled date with a source).
7. Cover image URL — official poster preferred (no fan art).
8. Synopsis in the requested language (we prefer the original-language synopsis with a clean translation).

Optional but encouraged

These don't block approval, but the more you provide upfront the faster the entry becomes useful to other visitors:

• Streaming / reading links — where the work is officially available to watch or read. For per-episode anime URLs, the form has a dedicated Streaming Submissions section; the rules are the same as for standalone streaming submissions (see Streaming Submissions).
• External links — official site, social, licensed catalog pages (see External Links).
• Staff, characters, studios, related works — what you have. A missing field is not a reason to delay the submission; moderators fill gaps post-approval.

What gets rejected at this stage

• Speculation about future works that have no official announcement ("there might be a season 2 of X").
• Fan projects, AI-generated works, or unauthorised translations.
• Duplicates — search the existing database carefully first (the same series can be listed under multiple romanisations).
• Submissions without a single verifiable source.

After approval

Once the entry is created:

• The entry is stub-quality — title, status, type, cover, and the source link.
• The community (and you) can then add follow-on submissions: characters, staff, synopsis improvements, alternative titles, related works, etc., through the normal Submission Process.
• Moderators may sync additional fields from official sources automatically over time.
