Moderators

Moderators are the team that reviews submissions, applies the Submission Guidelines, and keeps the catalogue accurate. They're contributors who have been promoted from the community based on a track record of careful, well-sourced submissions.

What moderators do

• Review submissions — approve, reject, or send back with comments.
• Resolve disputes — when two submissions conflict, or when a revert request comes in (see Revision History).
• Curate the tag vocabulary — decide which new tags get added.
• Maintain image quality — replace covers, banners, and character portraits when better official artwork becomes available.
• Triage reports — handle user reports on reviews, comments, and entries.

How to become a moderator

There's no application process. Moderators are invited based on:

• A solid contribution history — well-sourced, well-formatted, accepted submissions over time.
• Knowledge of the guidelines — your existing submissions show you've internalised the rules in this manual.
• Helpfulness in the community — answering newer contributors' questions in Channels is a strong signal.

If you've been actively contributing for a few months and feel ready, you can also indicate interest in Channels. Quality of past work matters more than volume.

Reporting moderator decisions

If you believe a moderator's decision was wrong:

• The first step is to reply to their comment with new context or a better source.
• If you've exhausted that and still disagree, escalate via Channels with a link to the specific submission. Another moderator will take a fresh look.
• Disputes are about the submission, not the person. Personal attacks aren't tolerated from either side.
